Mustagh Ata Expedition Underway

Casey Henley called in with a few details from China last weekend. We have been waiting to post an extensive dispatch from the team, but political tensions in Urumqi disrupted internet access for much of the region and it could not be transmitted. Casey reports that our team is safe and sound, acclimatizing well and making progress. They enjoyed their city tour in Kashgar and their time hiking at Kara Kul lake at 11,400′. Their plan was to do more acclimatization hikes and skills review enroute to base camp. They are now settled in to the Mustagh Ata base camp and will start moving up the climb. We should have more reports called in from the satellite phone in the next week. For now, no news is good news.
