Mexico Expedition — Orizaba Summit!
Mark Ryman called via sat phone early this morning to say that he and co-guide Hector Ponce de Leon and the entire Mexico Volcanoes crew were standing on the summit of Orizaba! The air at 18,404 feet didn’t sound too thin — Mark seemed quite chipper and was making fun of us for not being at work in the Seattle office yet!
Everyone left the hut between 230 and 3 am and made the climb in good style, summitting around 9 am in great weather. Congratulations to Andrea, Eric, Robert, Giuseppe and Richard for another Mexico summit! We wish you a smooth decent and hike out to Tlachichuca. Have some tacos and Margaritas for us! Viaja seguro!
