Mexico Expedition — Orizaba Summit!

Mark Ryman called via sat phone ear­ly this morn­ing to say that he and co-guide Hec­tor Ponce de Leon and the entire Mex­i­co Vol­ca­noes crew were stand­ing on the sum­mit of Oriz­a­ba! The air at 18,404 feet did­n’t sound too thin — Mark seemed quite chip­per and was mak­ing fun of us for not being at work in the Seat­tle office yet!

Every­one left the hut between 230 and 3 am and made the climb in good style, sum­mit­ting around 9 am in great weath­er. Con­grat­u­la­tions to Andrea, Eric, Robert, Giuseppe and Richard for anoth­er Mex­i­co sum­mit! We wish you a smooth decent and hike out to Tlachichu­ca. Have some tacos and Mar­gar­i­tas for us!
