Aconcagua Dispatch 1/19/09

Hel­lo, this is Pablo call­ing from Aconcagua base camp. Our team is doing well and mak­ing good progress. Today is our sec­ond rest day here in base camp and we used it to sort equip­ment and orga­nize our food and sup­plies for the rest of the climb. We also went to check in with the doc­tors and every­one received a good check up. We are mon­i­tor­ing vitals on every­one in our group and we will record these each day to make sure every­one is stay­ing healthy on the expe­di­tion. We have full porter sup­port for our team so yes­ter­day we were able to make an acclima­ti­za­tion hike up to Camp Cana­da and back to base camp in 5 hours roundtrip. We have had a vari­ety of weath­er, most of it not so good late­ly with cold temps, wind, and some light snow. Tomor­row we will make the move up to our first camp on the moun­tain at Camp Cana­da.
