Joshua Tree National Park Rock Climbing

Joshua Tree Nation­al Park is one of the birth­places of mod­ern tra­di­tion­al rock climb­ing. ​“JTree” has climbs for all lev­els, from begin­ner first-time climbers to sea­soned vet­er­ans, and is known for its unique style of crack and slab climb­ing. With your guide you’ll explore two dis­tinct desert ecosys­tems, the Mojave and the Col­orado, which come togeth­er in Joshua Tree Nation­al Park. A fas­ci­nat­ing vari­ety of plants and ani­mals thrive in this land sculpt­ed by strong winds and occa­sion­al tor­rents of rain. The dark night skies, a rich cul­tur­al his­to­ry, and sur­re­al geo­log­ic fea­tures add to the won­der of this vast wilder­ness in south­ern Cal­i­for­nia. Climb in JTree once, and many find that it is wor­thy of an annu­al fall, win­ter, or spring visit.

JTree’s climbs are eas­i­ly accessed via a short walk from one of the many the camp­grounds in the Nation­al Park. The world-renowned nat­ur­al climb­ing cen­ter is just a stone’s throw from two bustling urban cen­ters, Los Ange­les and San Diego, mak­ing it an easy approach from mul­ti­ple major air­ports. Climbers can cut their teeth on easy to mod­er­ate mul­ti-pitch, and sin­­gle-pitch climbs and it’s the per­fect place to refine your tra­di­tion­al climb­ing skills.
