Take it to the next level in the land of splitter cracks and desert towers
On this course you will explore and learn how to climb more difĀfiĀcult routes and work with more comĀpliĀcatĀed techĀniĀcal skills in Moab, the counĀtryās preĀmier desert rock climbĀing area known for its incredĀiĀble cracks and soarĀing towĀers. With easy access youāll be able to focus on the instrucĀtion that includes learnĀing the techĀniques of mulĀti-pitch climbĀing, placeĀment of artiĀfiĀcial proĀtecĀtion, lead climbĀing conĀcepts, and route findĀing on longer climbs. Your guide will introĀduce lead climbĀing for both sport and traĀdiĀtionĀal climbs. PlacĀing your own proĀtecĀtion and anchors while under the watchĀful instrucĀtion and belay of expert instrucĀtors will give you a solĀid founĀdaĀtion of skills required to begin leadĀing some of the areas clasĀsic routes.
Add a day or two and climb some of the clasĀsic desert towĀers; CastleĀton, Ancient Art, and moreāāāor sink your hands in the world famous cracks of IndiĀan Creek.

This is an advanced-beginĀner course and it is also open for interĀmeĀdiĀate-advanced climbers who want to learn new techĀniques or improve upon their skills. TechĀniĀcal abilĀiĀty up to 5.8 is recĀomĀmendĀed ā sport or traditional.
This course involves the following:
- Rock climbĀing from 5.4āāā5.10+
- Climbers should be in good physĀiĀcal conĀdiĀtion and able to operĀate in an instrucĀtionĀal setĀting for a full day

Cancellation / Refund Policy
- MMI strongĀly recĀomĀmends trip cancellation/āinterruption and evacĀuĀaĀtion insurĀance for all trips. Our insurĀance partĀner, RipĀcord, offers comĀpreĀhenĀsive travĀel insurĀance includĀing trip canĀcelĀlaĀtion, as well as rescue/āevacuation poliĀcies and can assist in answerĀing any quesĀtions. Itinerary
Intermediate Rock Course Day by Day

Day 1
We begin this course with a review of basic climbĀing proĀtoĀcols includĀing essenĀtial knots, equipĀment use, belay techĀnique and sigĀnals, climbĀing techĀnique and style, rapĀpelling, top rope anchorĀing sysĀtems, and rope manĀageĀment skills. We will then pracĀtice the funĀdaĀmenĀtal skills of traĀdiĀtionĀal climbĀing. OthĀer areas to be covĀered are anchorĀing sysĀtems, equalĀizaĀtion techĀniques, and mulĀti-pitch climbing.

Day 2
Today stuĀdents get opporĀtuĀniĀties to pracĀtice lead climbĀing under the proĀtecĀtion of a top rope. StuĀdents have a chance to have their gear placeĀments evalĀuĀatĀed and anchors criĀtiqued. In the afterĀnoon, we will conĀtinĀue to apply the skills we have learned throughĀout the course in the mulĀti-pitch climbĀing areĀna. As a beginĀning lead climber, you will also folĀlow your instrucĀtor up increasĀingĀly difĀfiĀcult and comĀplex leads to gain an underĀstandĀing of lead climbĀing techĀniques and strategies.

We begin the resĀcue overview with; belay escape using varĀiĀous sysĀtems, ascendĀing ropes with fricĀtion hitchĀes, long lowĀerĀing with two ropes tied togethĀer passĀing a knot. We conĀclude the day with rapĀpelling safeĀty, passĀing knots in rapĀpels, and descendĀing with an injured person.
