Everest Updates 5/5/2017
ExpeÂdiÂtion memÂber ChristoÂpher Hill shares the folÂlowÂing update from Everest:
We’ve safeÂly returned from a sucÂcessÂful secÂond rotaÂtion. Our acclimaÂtiÂzaÂtion is going extremeÂly well and we made the iniÂtial push from Base Camp to Camp II in about eight and a half hours. The secÂond half, which is a long slog across the valÂley, is chalÂlengÂing despite the motiÂvaÂtion of seeÂing Lhotse face in the far disÂtance at the end of the valÂley (left phoÂto). Once at Camp II, we preÂpared for our first climb up the Lhotse face to Camp III at 23,000 feet to furÂther accliÂmaÂtize. The whole face is fairÂly imposÂing and conÂnects EverÂest with Lhotse (top right). As we got closÂer we could see the iniÂtial lip of the face that we would be climbÂing (lowÂer right photo).
