Elbrus Expedition Dispatch — All together

Hello from Russia! Our whole group is together now and everyone is doing well. Our group consists of 4 climbers, myself, and my assistant guide, Soltan. In our group we have: Hanse Ringstrom from Stockholm, Sweden; Steve Pigott from Canton, GA; Joe Dehart from Cary, NC; and David Smith from Knoxville, MD. As you can see in the photos, Steve is a professional firefighter and plans to wear his turn-out gear for the summit!

We just finished our last day of dry-land” acclimatization. Tomorrow we will go to the barrels camp at close to 12,000′. Then we will climb to Pastakhov Rocks, near 15,000′, to practice some climbing techniques. We will be ready for the summit by Monday or Tuesday. The group is strong and we expect good success on this outing. We will send an update in a few days.
