Mount Stuart West Ridge
A climb of Mount Stuart is no small matter. It is a dominant, unrivaled peak in the Central Cascades with a sweeping prominence that rises 5,354 feet in just two miles. The north side of Mt. Stuart shelters three glaciers, the Stuart, the Ice Cliff, and Sherpa, but the sun drenched West Ridge offers a warmer path to the summit.
Moderately difficult, with sweeping views, and complex route finding on the West Ridge makes it an alpine classic. The West Ridge is a mix of scrambling, and low fifth class climbing on solid granite that simultaneously manages pulse-raising airiness, and a sense of confidence at once as you move smoothly over easier terrain. It’s the ideal climb for rock climbers and mountaineers looking to explore expand their skills on varied terrain.
