Aconcagua Dispatch 1/15/09

Hel­lo Moun­tain Mad­ness, this is Pablo call­ing from Con­flu­en­cia. Our whole group is here and the trip is under­way now. Every­one is doing well. Two days ago we hiked in from the trail­head to Con­flu­en­cia in 3.5 hours, a very good time. Yes­ter­day we went for a short hike to check out the South Face of Cer­ro Aconcagua and every­one enjoyed the view. Today we orga­nized gear and sup­plies and had our check in with the doc­tors. Every­one received a clean bill of health and is feel­ing very good and strong. After­wards, today was main­ly a rest day. We all enjoyed read­ing, eat­ing and stay­ing hydrat­ed to pre­pare for our next move. Tomor­row we will make the 6 hour hike to base camp at Plaza de Mulas. I will try to call again soon. Ciao.
