A Trekker’s Reflections from Everest Base Camp

Karen, one of our first trekkers of the sea­son, had a great time on her trek to Ever­est Base Camp! Hear her reflec­tions about her experience. 

“Trekking from Luk­la to Mount Ever­est Base Camp is an expe­ri­ence that is beyond com­mon expres­sion. Lush val­leys and high moun­tains engulf you as you strain to take it all in. Lit­tle chil­dren seem eager to see you even though you know they have seen many trekkers on the trail. I could not believe the loads porters on the trails car­ried, nor the seem­ing ease with which they nav­i­gat­ed a some­times dif­fi­cult path. Always pre­pared to greet you and nev­er annoyed when you stopped to look at the sur­round­ing beau­ty. We were far from the ordered chaos of Kath­man­du and I was quite sur­prised by the abun­dant num­bers and species of birds there were to see right on up through Base Camp itself!”
