When not in the field work­ing as a guide Shy helps out with our inter­na­tion­al pro­gram devel­op­ment. His inter­est in climb­ing came ear­ly on from grow­ing up in Wash­ing­ton. When not climb­ing in the Cas­cades, Yosemite or Zion, Shy guides in the North­west, South Amer­i­ca, Asia, and Mex­i­co. Shy has a strong back­ground in tech­ni­cal climb­ing, is an excel­lent teacher, and exudes a cheer­ful spir­it in the moun­tain envi­ron­ment. His culi­nary back­ground gives new mean­ing to the con­cept of ​“moun­tain food!”
