Juliana Garcia

Juliana has been moun­taineer­ing in Ecuador since the age of 15. Juliana first guid­ed with Moun­tain Mad­ness over twen­ty years ago. Since then she became the first female Ecuado­ri­an Moun­tain Guide and Latin Amer­i­can hold­ing ASEGUIM and IFM­GA cer­ti­fi­ca­tion, the high­est inter­na­tion­al­ly rec­og­nized cer­ti­fi­ca­tion, and has served the post of Pres­i­dent of Ecuado­ri­an Moun­tain Guides Asso­ci­a­tion. Addi­tion­al­ly, she has served on the IFM­GA Board of Direc­tors and was the first woman to serve as a board mem­ber. As a climber, Juliana has reached many sum­mits in the Andes, has first ascents in both Peru and Bolivia, and was recent­ly a mem­ber of a Gasher­brum II expe­di­tion. Her guid­ing career has been marked not only by remark­able ascents and diverse guid­ing accom­plish­ments, but by break­ing ground for future women lead­ers in the industry.
