Dawa Geljin Sherpa
Dawa calls LukÂla, Nepal his home, where his famÂiÂly was one of the first inhabÂiÂtants there before Hillary came to climb EverÂest and tourism did not yet exist. He climbed with Scott FisÂchÂer on many advenÂtures back in the 1990s. His pasÂsion for the mounÂtains conÂtinÂued, not only for the climbÂing and trekking, but for the local SherÂpa comÂmuÂniÂties in the SolokhumÂbu where he has been instruÂmenÂtal in helpÂing build schools, been an advoÂcate for female teachÂers, and empowÂered the local SherÂpa comÂmuÂniÂties through eduÂcaÂtion. He has accomÂplished this through the orgaÂniÂzaÂtion, ClassÂroom in the Clouds, which he foundÂed. When not busy with buildÂing schools, he can be found guidÂing treks throughÂout the region where guests enjoy his friendÂly demeanor and vast knowlÂedge of the mounÂtains of Nepal and its people.
