Dawa Geljin Sherpa

Dawa calls Lukla, Nepal his home, where his family was one of the first inhabitants there before Hillary came to climb Everest and tourism did not yet exist. He climbed with Scott Fischer on many adventures back in the 1990s. His passion for the mountains continued, not only for the climbing and trekking, but for the local Sherpa communities in the Solokhumbu where he has been instrumental in helping build schools, been an advocate for female teachers, and empowered the local Sherpa communities through education. He has accomplished this through the organization, Classroom in the Clouds, which he founded. When not busy with building schools, he can be found guiding treks throughout the region where guests enjoy his friendly demeanor and vast knowledge of the mountains of Nepal and its people.
