Alan Rousseau

Alan has been guid­ing since 2008 and is IFM­GA cer­ti­fied. Climb­ing has tak­en Alan to the Alas­ka Range, Andes, Cau­ca­sus, Cana­di­an Rock­ies, Sier­ra, and the Himalaya. He has com­plet­ed numer­ous first ascents in var­i­ous styles of climb­ing, includ­ing 2 first peak ascents in the Himalaya. In addi­tion to first ascents of Himalayan peaks Alan has sev­er­al notable first ascents of routes includ­ing the West Face of Ten­gi Ragi Tau (6,948 m) in 2020 for which he and Moun­tain Mad­ness guide Tino Vil­lanue­va were award­ed the pres­ti­gious Pio­let D’ Or. In 2013 Alan was award­ed the Lyman Spitzer Cut­t­ing-Edge Climb­ing Award for his climb­ing achieve­ments in Nepal. When Alan is not on an expe­di­tion or guid­ing in the North Cas­cades, Wasatch or Alps, he can be found ice or rock climb­ing with his wife in Salt Lake.
