First Two Everest Base Camp Treks 100% Successful!
Everest Base Camp 2012 is in full force. Prayer flags reach out from rock altars to indicate clusters of tents and climbers have been blessed for the season and are ready to climb. A thin trail on the glacier weaves through encampments towards the Icefall. We spend a night on the shifting and cracking ice. Though no danger to us, it’s a potent reminder of the moving Icefall which climbers will face on the way higher. Conditions on the mountain this year have been challenging. Finicky weather, melting and rocky ice, and unpredictable avalanches make this a particularly challenging year for summit teams.

A journey to Everest Base Camp is more than geography – it is an experience in culture, history, religion, community, and our own untapped strength. Congratulations Mountain Madness trekkers – 100% successful in the first two groups this year! You all were amazing!!! Stay tuned for updates from MM Guide Shayan Rohani as he guides our third trip into the Khumbu Valley. Also, join us this fall before May 31st and receive a discount!
