Clara Maynard

Clara grew up sail­ing the seas along the east coast and pur­su­ing a degree in biol­o­gy before mov­ing west. She is cur­rent­ly guid­ing full time in the Cas­cades. Pri­or to her guid­ing career, she worked for 7 years as a nation­al park ranger, pro­vid­ing remote wilder­ness emer­gency med­ical and search and res­cue ser­vices for hun­dreds of vis­i­tors at Mount Rainier, Rocky Moun­tain, and Sequoia & Kings Canyon Nation­al Parks. Clara is pre­pared for any emer­gency as a res­cue leader, heli­copter crewmem­ber, Parkmedic ALS provider, tech­ni­cal res­cue instruc­tor, back­coun­try ski patroller, and wild­land fire­fight­er. When she is not guid­ing, you can find her ice and mixed climb­ing in the Cana­di­an Rock­ies, alpine rock climb­ing in the Buga­boos or Wash­ing­ton Pass, ski­ing low angle trees, and crag­ging in Index. Clara is an Appren­tice Rock Guide, Appren­tice Alpine Guide, and has com­plet­ed her AAA Pro 1.
