Leavenworth and rock climbing near Seattle

Seattle Rock

From downtown Seattle a variety of outstanding rock climbing areas can be accessed via a one or two hour drive. These areas include Leavenworth, North Bend, Mount Garfield, Darrington, Index, and Mount Erie, and offer options for both beginners and advanced climbers. Alpine rock options can be found too.

Participants can day trip from Seattle or there is the option to car camp, or stay in the comfort of nearby hotels and enjoy the excellent local restaurants if doing several days of climbing.

Each of these locations have distinct rock, and a variety of climbs from 1 – 23 pitches long; from the single-pitch climbs at Mount Erie overlooking the beautiful San Juan Islands, the immaculate splitter cracks of Index said to rival Yosemite, Leavenworth’s classics, the long multi-pitch routes on the granite domes of Darrington and Mount Garfield, to the easily accessed sport climbs of North Bend.
