Avalanche & Ski Courses in the Cascades
Terrain selection in the Mount Baker back country
We are pleased to announce that our avalanche courses and ski courses for the winter are scheduled and ready to go! With a forcasted La Niña and great winter snow conditions on the horizon, students should benefit from the perfect learning atmosphere. Join us for a three-day course to Mount Rainier National Park and get some introductory knowledge about avalanche phenomenon, terrain selection, travel techniques, decision making, human factors, trip planning and prep, and companion rescue. Field sessions will take you to the Mazama Ridge, Paradise Glacier, Muir Snowfield and surrounding areas.
For those of you looking to expand your current avalanche knowledge, try our Level 2 course: “Analyzing Snow Stability and Avalanche Hazard.” Here you will delve deeper into slab mechanics; snowpack structure, metamorphism and variability; and skier triggering principles. It is the perfect course for ski patrolers, guides, and advanced recreationists!
And lots of turns out there for skiers looking for an intro to ski touring and some freedom of the hills for some some great powder! Give us a call for more details.
